OGOR: The residents of Cilejit in Tenjo, Bogor regency pelted stones at a commuter line train en route from Tanah Abang in Central Jakarta to Maja in Lebak, Banten after the train crashed into a motorcyclist and killed him on Friday.
The motorcyclist was trying to pass over an illegal railway crossing. An illegal crossing does not have a gatekeeper or even a gate.
After the accident, hundreds of furious residents gathered in front of the Cilejit train station and tried to get into it, tribunnews.com reported.
The public relations officer for PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek, Eva Chairunisa, said on Friday that the station had been secured by the company's officers with assistance from regularly deployed military officers. She said that the incident caused trains serving the Tanah Abang'Maja route to shorten their trips.
'Commuter line trains for that particular route will stop at the Parung Panjang train station because of the unrest,' she said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The Parung Panjang station is five stations away from the Maja train station and one station away from the Cilejit station.
