nvironment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya has questioned the status of a 47,000 hectare oil palm plantation in Padang Lawas, North Sumatra, which has been confiscated from imprisoned businessman DL Sitorus.
The plantation's status was a crucial issue discussed by the minister with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and relevant authorities such as the Indonesian Military (TNI), National Police and the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry at the KPK building on Tuesday.
Deputy KPK Chairman Johan Budi said the Supreme Court had confiscated the plantation from Sitorus in 2006 and the seizure was aimed at preserving the plantation area and its surrounding natural resources.
'This is the crucial issue that we will discuss. The KPK, in line with its preventive function, wants to discuss it with the relevant authorities,' he said.
Businessman DL Sitorus and his lawyer Adner Sirait were found guilty of bribing Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) judge Ibrahim with Rp 300 million (US$23,191) in 2010 to win a land dispute against the Jakarta administration.
