President Joko âJokowiâ Widodo has ordered the revocation of the licenses of private hospitals that are denying healthcare service to residents holding Indonesian Health Cards (KIS)
President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo has ordered the revocation of the licenses of private hospitals that are denying healthcare service to residents holding Indonesian Health Cards (KIS).
He said he will insist all private hospitals nationwide admit and serve KIS holders.
'So far, only state-owned hospitals have obliged and not all private hospitals will accept the KIS holders and I will force them to serve KIS holders,' he said when visiting Temuwangi 2 state elementary school in Pedan, Klaten, Central Java on Monday.
During the visit, the President distributed KIS, Indonesian Smart Cards (KIP) and Prosperous Family Cards (KKS) to several residents who were representing villagers.
He added that it was pointless for him to become President if he could not be tough.
'I will use force if they decline and their permits will be revoked. To become a president one must be tough,' he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
He stressed that all residents have to be given access to health care, both in state-own hospitals and in private ones. (rms)
