he Attorney General's Office (AGO) said on Tuesday that a joint anti-corruption task force involving the AGO, the National Police and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was established to quiet down rumors about a conflict between the three institutions.
AGO spokesman Tony T. Spontana said that Attorney General M. Prasetyo was the one who initiated the idea.
"The Attorney General proactively suggested to form the task force casually over lunch. I think it was a good idea because we can show the public that [the three institutions] are solid, cooperative and have a harmonious relationship," he told reporters at the AGO headquarters in South Jakarta.
The establishment of a joint anti-corruption task force was announced on Monday after a closed-door meeting between the leaders of the three institutions.
Tony acknowledged that the AGO, the KPK, and the police force had yet to iron out the technicalities of the task force, but said they had agreed to conduct a joint review on a report filed by Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama on alleged mark-ups in Jakarta's draft 2015 budget.(++++)
