n cooperation with the Central Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Agency, the Central Jakarta Public Order Agency raided illegal pigeon farms in Senen, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday to prevent the transmission of avian flu.
During the raid, which was held in the areas of Kenari and Kwitang, the agency found 268 pigeons and 14 chickens from nine farms owned by 18 people.
'We allowed the residents to sell the birds because we did not want to burden them', said Central Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Agency head Mulyadi as quoted by tribunnews.com.
However, personnel still slaughtered three chickens and seven pigeons and demanded that the owners write statements that they would close the business in the area.
