ouse of Representatives (DPR) deputy speaker Fadli Zon says that the legislative complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, needs to rebuild its library and museum to make them more available to the public.
He said it was high time the legislative complex, which houses the DPR, the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), was revamped to allow for better interaction with the public as well as to improve the performance of lawmakers.
He said the House library could serve as a valuable trove of information that could be shared between legislators and the public. He said that the current DPR library failed to attract the public and its reconstruction could turn it into a world-class library like Library of Congress in the US.
Aside from the library, the House also needs to revamp its museum.
'We want a legislative complex that is akin to that of the United States Capitol Building or the UK's [Palace of Westminster],' Fadli said.
