Ambassador Burhan undergoing treatment in Singapore: Envoy

ndonesian Ambassador to Pakistan Burhan Muhammad arrived in the wee hours of Wednesday to receive treatment at Singapore General Hospital's (SGH) Burns Centre, Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Andri Hadi said on Wednesday.

"Ambassador Burhan arrived at 1 a.m. and is receiving treatment," Andri told The Jakarta Post over the phone on Wednesday evening.

"The Indonesian Embassy in Singapore is setting up a team consisting of a number of embassy staff to monitor his treatment."

The center is regarded as the top center for the treatment of burns in Southeast Asia.

Burhan was scheduled to arrived in Singapore on Monday to receive treatment but his condition worsened during the journey from Islamabad to Singapore. He was treated in Chennai, India, to stabilize his condition.

Burhan sustained the burns during a helicopter accident in Gilgit, Baltistan, over a mountainous resort in Pakistan on Friday.

The accident killed his wife Heri Listyawati as well as the Philippine ambassador, Norwegian ambassador and wife of the Malaysian ambassador to Pakistan. (nvn)
