he Family Planning Association (PKBI) has received support from oil company Chevron for its intervention program aimed at reducing the maternal mortality rate.
'We have just received funding from Chevron to implement our maternal mortality reduction program in the company's operation sites, namely Riau, West Java and Kutai in East Kalimantan,' PKBI public relations officer Devi Fitriana said.
The partnership was sealed on the sidelines of the IPA exhibition.
'Our maternal mortality reduction program seeks to increase society's awareness of possible health risks associated with the childbirth process, so whenever a mother is ready to give birth, they are quick to help so as to prevent the incidence of maternal mortality,' she said.
PKBI also attempts to collect data on the blood type of each woman living in every area and the identities of people who have the same blood type. Frequently women suffering from haemorrhage during childbirth find no blood donors that match her type.
