tate railway operator KAI says the northern routes, especially sections near Waruduwur Station in Cirebon, West Java, are back up and running following a train crash at the station on Saturday evening.
KAI spokesperson Agus Komarudin said the northern was reopened at 6 a.m. local time on Sunday. "Three trains have passed by the Waruduwur Station at a speed of 5 kilometers per hour,' he said as quoted by Antara in Bandung on Sunday.
Agus said Track 1 was functioning normally. Track 2 and Track 3, he said, still needed repairs.
A Bangunkarta passenger train serving Jakarta-Surabaya hit a freight train from behind while the latter was stopped at Waruduwur Station at around 6:30 p.m. local time on Saturday.
Agus said trains travelling either from the west or the east could pass by the station, taking turns. 'Still, train delays will continue to occur today as the repairs are ongoing,' he said.
'Alhamdulillah [Thank God], there were no deaths in the accident. One victim with light wounds -- a freight train officer ' is being treated at Cirebon Hospital,' he said. (ebf)(+++)
