he police have continued their investigation into the cause of a crash between a Bangunkarta passenger train serving Jakarta-Surabaya and a freight train at Waruduwur Station in Cirebon regency, West Java, on Saturday evening.
'The Bangunkarta train hit the freight train from behind when it stopped at Waruduwur Station,' West Java Police spokesperson Sr.Comr. Sulistyo Pudjo Hartono as quoted by Antara in Bandung on Sunday.
He said the collision, which occurred on around 7:15 p.m. local time on Saturday injured two passengers. 'All passengers were evacuated,' he added.
Sulistyo said workers were dispatched to remove railway coaches and freight cars that blocked the rail track shortly after the incident occurred.
He added the Cirebon Police had dispatched a Community Control (Dalmas) team and Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel to help secure the accident site.
Sulistyo said police were collecting information from witnesses to try and pinpoint the cause of the incident. (ebf)
