Agung camp questions Aburizal move

T

he deputy chairman of Agung Laksono-led Golkar Party, Yorrys Raweyai, has expressed skepticism at Aburizal Bakrie'€™s move to propose reconciliation with the Agung camp, as Aburizal has always insisted on settling the party'€™s internal conflict at court.

'€œIt'€™s not a new thing. In January, he declined reconciliation because he wanted the conflict to be settled through court. Now, he suddenly calls for reconciliation,'€ he said here on Monday.

According to Yorrys, Aburizal called for reconciliation in response to the verdict of the State Administrative Court, which invalidated the law and human rights affairs minister'€™s decree that recognized Agung'€™s leadership in the party.

He said he appreciated Aburizal'€™s maneuver if it was aimed at helping Golkar members to contest upcoming simultaneous local elections, but warned that the registration of Golkar'€™s hopefuls would be conducted by the party'€™s executive board, as recognized by the government.

He said that despite the court'€™s verdict, the minister'€™s decree remained effective because the Agung camp had filed an appeal to the High State Administrative Court.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla is mediating the internal conflict between the two camps to allow the party to register its regional head candidates with the General Elections Commission on June 26-28. (rms)(+++)
