ealth practitioners from the city administration began medical check-ups on residents of the Tanah Tinggi low-cost apartments in Central Jakarta during the launch of a preventive medical treatment program titled 'Knock on the door and serve with heart' on Sunday.
'The program aims to improve the health of residents in low-cost apartments in the city, to reduce mortality rates and the number of incidences of illnesses like tuberculosis, HIV, diabetes and cancer,' said Central Jakarta Mayor Mangara Pardede on Sunday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
He said that the program would be conducted from May to October in all low-cost apartments in the city except in the Menteng and Senen districts of Central Jakarta.
Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said separately that the program would help low-income residents in the apartments with medical check-ups as many of them were reluctant to visit a doctor, often because of concerns about transportation costs.
