akarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama said on Monday that regional administrations like Jakarta could not only rely on their own budgets to carry out development activities.
That was why the Jakarta administration had often drawn together shared 'responsibilities', involving private and city owned firms, he added.
"We can't only rely on our own budget and employees, because development would not progress. That's why I'm collecting responsibilities from private companies," Ahok said during a public meeting to discuss the 2016 city work plan at City Hall on Monday.
Citing an example, the governor said many of the city's low-cost apartments were built and paid for by various companies.
Ahok further explained that the city had built six child-friendly parks this year and all of them were fully paid for by private and city owned companies.
Various companies had also donated public facilities, such as buses, he added. (ebf)(+++)
