MyGadget: Jenny Jusuf: A gadget loyalist

Freelance writer Jenny Jusuf relies heavily on her gadgets to get the job done for her clients.

For Jenny, who describes herself as a '€œhomeless freelancer'€ or a '€œdigital nomad'€, gadgets have helped her achieve the freedom she is looking for in the nomadic lifestyle of a freelancer.

'€œI have the freedom to choose where I live because all I need is a laptop and Internet access to do my work,'€ Jenny, whose latest project was writing her first feature movie script for Angga Sasongko'€™s Filosofi Kopi (Coffee Philosophy), told The Jakarta Post in a recent interview.

Jenny'€™s lifestyle and choice of career has enabled her to do her work for clients in a very flexible manner.

Despite Jenny'€™s nomadic lifestyle, her gadget preferences are very conservative.

'€œI rarely buy new gadgets. I only buy new ones when the old ones are completely broken,'€ she said. '€œI'€™m a very loyal girl.'€

Apps

I use all the well-known apps but for me the most important is Dropbox. I keep all my important files and work in my Dropbox account.

I even have two Dropbox accounts and one of them has a size of 1 Terabyte (TB). It is a bit expensive but it'€™s worth it for keeping my work safe.

Gadgets

One of the most expensive gadgets I'€™ve bought is my iPad 2 and it'€™s truly worth it. I'€™m still using it. But its place as the most expensive gadget I have ever bought has been taken by my Macbook Air.

Other than these two gadgets, I also use an iPhone 5 and a Samsung Galaxy. I'€™m a user of both the iOs and Android operating systems but I do not purchase Internet data credits for my Android phone to save money.

I don'€™t understand the details of various operating systems but based on my observations so far, Android apps have more frequent updates than those on iOs.

The Android Playstore also has more content than the App Store. Playstore is also more accessible and reliable than the App Store.

Overall, I believe Android is the better operating system but since my main gadgets for work are all manufactured by Apple, I will stick with their products for a while.
