Agung camp appoints delegates to talk with Aburizal

T

he Agung Laksono faction in the Golkar party has appointed four delegates to the proposed reconciliation with their rival camp led by Aburizal Bakrie.

'€œThe four are Yorrys Raweyai, Agun Gunandjar Sudarsa, Lawrence Siburian and Gusti Iskandar,'€ Agung faction'€™s deputy chairman Leo Nababan said here on Thursday.

The two conflicting factions were to hold talks to discuss a limited reconciliation at the mediation of Vice President Jusuf Kalla, to enable Golkar to contest the upcoming local elections scheduled for Dec. 9.

Golkar and the United Development Party (PPP) have been asked to settle their internal conflicts and leadership dualism before the parties register their regional head candidates with the General Election Commission (KPU) on June 26-28.

The polling body has insisted on receiving the registration of candidates only from political parties whose executive boards are registered with the Law and Human Rights Ministry.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla said the reconciliation between the conflicting factions in Golkar was nearing completion under his mediation.

Kompas.com reported that Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna H. Laoly had called on the conflicting factions in Golkar to reach a permanent settlement of their internal conflict. (rms)(+++)
