oreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi has said improving people's prosperity is the key to promoting tolerance and eradicating terrorism in the Islamic world.
'Building closer cooperation in the field of economics, development and social culture to increase people's prosperity in Islamic countries is the key in efforts to promoting tolerance and to eradicate terrorism,' she said as quoted by Antara in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
The minister made the statement during the 42nd Meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Kuwait from May 27 to 28. Fifty-seven foreign ministers and high officials of OIC member countries attended the meeting.
In the meeting, Retno took the opportunity to highlight the importance of Islamic countries in taking joint steps to promote tolerance.
Retno also highlighted the importance of Islamic countries adopting Islamic teachings that put forward diplomacy, negotiation and peaceful ways in conflict resolutions. (ebf)(+++)
