The 12-day operation, starting on Friday, will involve Malaysian maritime institutions as well as the Indonesian Navy, the water police unit, the Maritime Security Board (Bakamla), the Sea and Coast Guard Unit (KPLP) and the Excise and Customs Office.
'The coordinated patrol is aimed at improving cooperation between maritime institutions in the two countries,' Tanjungpinang Naval Base (Lantamal IV) commander First Admiral Sulistiyanto told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
The biannual operation will end in Johor, Malaysia, on June 10.(+++)
