elations between Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and his deputy Djarot Saiful Hidayat, a senior Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician, are likely to head further south after the former accused the latter of insubordination.

Ahok said he had instructed Drajot immediately after taking office last year to always keep him in the loop of any updates by submitting meeting notes. However, Djarot has refused to do so.

According to Ahok, when he was deputy to then Jakarta Governor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo (now the president), he would report all official meetings for coordination.

"My relationship with Pak Jokowi is clearly different from that with Pak Djarot [...] I always made comprehensive notes on all my meetings and reported them to Pak Jokowi to keep him aware of my activities and decisions."

"I asked for the same thing from Pak Djarot. I told him to tell his staffers to make meeting notes and submit them to me. However, his staffers never do so," Ahok said.

Ahok was made Jakarta governor in November after Jokowi resigned to become the President. The PDI-P, which has a majority of seats in the Jakarta Council, appointed Djarot, former mayor of small town Blitar in East Java, as Ahok's deputy.

Ahok, who is seeking reelection in 2017, earlier vented his anger at Djarot for organizing the 2015 Jakarta Folk Fair in Senayan, South Jakarta, without his knowledge.

It was revealed that vendors renting kiosks at the event have been charged at least Rp 2 million (US$151.24) each. The vendors have not received the promised facilities despite paying high rent.

He also accused administration officers and certain individuals of "playing" with the money. Dozens of vendors protested at the venue on Sunday, demanding that the city administration connect their kiosks to electricity. (ren)(+++)
