The ijab kabul will take place at Graha Saba Buana on Jl. Letjen Suprapto, Surakarta, Central Java, a hall owned by the Jokowi family.

'€œMas Gibran has demanded privacy so the ijab kabul ceremony will be attended only by family members and relatives. The media will only be allowed to take pictures prior to the ceremony,'€ Anggit Noegroho, spokesperson for the Jokowi family, said in Surakarta on Wednesday.

Only appointed cameramen and photographers will be allowed to document the event. However, Anggit said '€œnone of the pictures and videos will be shared with the public".

'€œGibran does not like the idea of sharing his private life with the public. He would rather share the story of his business ventures and so on,'€ he added.

Jokowi, First Lady Iriana, Gibran and Selvi would meet the press after the ijab kabul, when they would give brief statements without taking any questions, Anggit cited.

Gibran also declined additional merriment suggested by his father, including taking a horse and cart from their residence on Jl. Kutai, Sumber, which is located about 200 meters from the wedding hall.

'€œPak Jokowi suggested that the groom take a horse and cart owned by the family, but Mas Gibran declined such things. So the family will walk instead,'€ he said, emphasizing that, '€œPak Jokowi never made decisions [regarding the wedding] without Gibran'€™s approval.'€

The hardworking Gibran also chose to be in charge of the wedding preparations, despite a tradition that the bride'€™s family hosts the mantu (main wedding ceremony).

During the two months of preparations, Gibran personally supervised every detail, including the menu '€” which is being prepared by his own catering company, Chili Pari '€” and the hall decorations.

'€œFor that, he resembles his father the most,'€ Anggit said.

Thousands of guests are expected to attend the wedding reception, which will be held in shifts from Thursday afternoon until the evening, at the same venue.

VIP and VVIP guests, including former presidents and vice presidents, ambassadors, ministers, heads of government institutions, governors and local councilors, are expected to attend the evening reception, while other groups of guests, including residents and Jokowi supporters, will be present in the afternoon.

Jokowi is scheduled to fly to Surabaya, East Java, on Friday to inaugurate a toll road. (++++)
