he South Jakarta Police destroyed 10,337 bottles of alcohol in its front yard ahead of the fasting month on Wednesday.

South Jakarta Police deputy head Adj. Sr. Comr. Surawan said the alcoholic drinks were confiscated from various stalls during operations conducted in 2015 in South Jakarta. The police had the bottles run over by a road roller.

'€œWe destroyed the alcohol distribution of any kind of brand,'€ Surawan said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

According to him, as many as 5,000 of the bottles were seized by the Pesanggrahan Police. South Jakarta deputy mayor Tri Kurniadi said during the event that the move was an effective way to '€œeradicate social ills'€.
