our drug suspects escaped from the Bengkalis Police detention cell at around 3 a.m. local time on Thursday. They were identified as Usman Siregar, 35, Palutra Prov, 36, Afis Syaputra, 23, and Aris, Lias Randi, 30.
As of Thursday noon, police were only able to catch Randi on Jl. Pramuka at around 11 a.m. local time. 'We are still pursuing the three other escapees,' Bengkalis Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Aloysius Supriyadi said.
The four detainees are believed to have fled after bending the iron bars of their cell with their sarong and then slipping out of the police station.
'Every officer on duty [at the time of the escape] is being examined to find out whether the incident purely resulted from negligence or if it was intentional,' said Aloysius.
