ormer minister of state enterprises Dahlan Iskan showed up at the Attorney General's Office (AGO) building in South Jakarta to be questioned as a witness in a graft case involving the procurement of 16 electric microbuses worth Rp 32 billion (US$2.39 million).
Dahlan and his lawyer Yuzril Ihza Mahendra declined to speak to national media upon their arrival at the AGO building.
The AGO has questioned 18 witnesses and named a former senior official at the State Enterprise Ministry and a director of PT Sarimas Ahmadi Pratama as suspects in the case.
PT Sarimas Ahmadi Pratama was appointed to carry out the procurement, while the State Enterprise Ministry official identified as AS directed stated-owned Bank Rakyat Indonesia, PT Pertamina and PT PGN to sponsor the project.
'AS is a former official at the State Enterprise Ministry who instructed the three state enterprises to sponsor the microbus project,' AGO spokesman Tony T Spontana said on Monday.
Kompas.com reported that the project was carried out when Dahlan was appointed as minister of state enterprises in 2013 and after the project was completed the 16 electric microbuses could not be operated and then the microbuses were given to state universities.
Dahlan has been also targeted by the police in an investigation into a graft case involving a fictitious farmland project in Ketapang, West Kalimantan. (rms)(+++)
