he Bank Indonesia (BI) deputy governor from 2005 to 2010, Siti Chalimah Fadjrijah, passed away at the age of 63 because of illness on Tuesday.
'Rest in peace: Ibu Siti Fadjrijah, former BI deputy governor, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday,' the head of BI Regional IX for North Sumatra and Aceh, Difi A.Johansyah, said as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The body of Siti, who was born in Temanggung, Central Java, on Sept. 2, 1951, will be laid at her home on Jl.Teluk Tomini, Pondok Bambu, East Jakarta.
Siti was an alumnus of the University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. She earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from the university's School of Economics in 1978. She then pursued her master's degree on international management at the PPM Institute of Management's School of Economics in 1999.
Siti obtained her doctoral degree through the strategic management sciences program at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta in 2008.
Siti was appointed as BI's deputy governor in 2005. In that position she was accused of having been involved in the Bank Century case.
On June 18, 2010, Siti was replaced by Halim Alamsyah, two years after which the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named her as a suspect in the Bank Century case. The KPK charged Siti for her alleged involvement in the extending of short term assistance (FPJP) and power misuse in the determination of Bank Century's status as a failed bank.
The KPK had not yet issued a Sprindik (an investigation order letter) for Siti because of her health problems. (ebf)(+++)
