fire raged through Susukan Market in Ciracas, East Jakarta, on Wednesday morning, claiming the live of Anggi Erlina, 11.
Ciracas Police chief Comr. Budi Santoso said the victim was asleep in her parents' kiosk at the time.
'When the fire broke out, Anggi was inside the kiosk, which had been locked from the outside by her mother, who went away for a while,' he said at the location as quoted by kompas.com.
Anggi's mother, meanwhile, was devastated when she went to the National Police Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, where her daughter's body was taken for an autopsy.
'I asked her to come with me to the [bigger] market this morning, but she refused as she was sleepy,' she said, sobbing.
Neighborhood unit head Asep Saifudin said the fire, which destroyed 46 of the 150 kiosks, was thought to have been caused by a short circuit.
'The fire engulfed the area at 9:30 a.m. and was extinguished at around 11:30 a.m. As many as 20 fire trucks were deployed to put out the fire,' he said at the location.
