Greater Jakarta: Deep hole on Jl. Jatibaru still not fixed

L

ocals have reported a dangerous hole apparently caused by land subsidence on Jl. Jatibaru in Gambir, Central Jakarta. The 3-meter-deep hole located on the road from Tanah Abang to Jl. Kebon Sirih had been mostly covered by steel plates, which left some parts uncovered.

'€œThe road collapsed at 6 p.m. on Friday. There have already been two motorcycle drivers who fell when maneuvering to avoid the hole,'€ Faisal, a local resident, said on Saturday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.

Central Jakarta Bina Marga road agency head Pamudji said that his subordinates had checked the collapsed section of road. He said there could be underground tunnels in the location, which required coordination with the Water Management Agency. '€œWe have installed some steel plates to avoid traffic accidents. We will repair it as soon as possible,'€ he said.
