Margriet Megawe, 60, the adoptive mother of Engeline Margret Megawe, 8, has been named the main suspect in the premeditated murder of her adopted daughter.
"Margriet was charged under Article 340 and Article 338 of the Criminal Code on premeditated murder, accompanied by an article on the abandonment of a child as had been imposed on Margriet earlier," Bali Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Hery Wiyanto said in Denpasar on Sunday.
Another suspect, Agus Tay Hamba May, 25, was also named in the murder case under Article 340 in lieu of Article 56 of the Criminal Code, Hery said.
"Details on their respective roles will be disclosed in the trial. The most important thing here is that Agus assisted in the murder. Just wait for the trial," he said.
Hery reiterated that the process of investigating the case was still going on and has not been completed yet. He declined to give specific information on their respective roles. (hhr)
