Iyus, Aming's manager, said that the media had misinterpreted Aming's presence at the parade, with many reports saying that he supported gay marriage.
'Obviously, he was sad. Why do people make such conclusions when that's not the reason he went,' Iyus said as quoted by kompas.com.
Iyus clarified that Aming went to New York for a holiday. The 43-year-old left on June 23 with chef Priscilya Princessa and presenter Altaf Vicko. Iyus added that Aming's involvement in the parade was only a coincidence.
'He didn't go to America to attend that parade. When he got there, the event was on, so he just followed the crowd,' Iyus added.
The talk about Aming's participation in the 2015 NYC Pride March and his alleged support for gay rights emerged after Indonesian media published a photo of him dressed in a costume at the parade.
