The deceased has been identified as Brig. Irvanudin, 27, who was attacked with a machete. His body was handed over to his family for funeral proceedings in Limbung village, Bajeng district.
The two injured victims have been identified as Brig. Mus Muliadi and Second Brig. Usman, who are undergoing treatment for their wounds at the Makassar Bhayangkara Police Hospital.
South Sulawesi Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Frans Barung Mangera said a team had been formed to investigate the attack.
'The team has yet to identify the attackers and the main reason behind the attack. They are working to investigate the case thoroughly,' he said.
He said the police had questioned five witnesses. According to an officer on duty at the police post, the attack lasted only five minutes, after which the attackers fled.
