Electric train operator PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ) claims it has substantially reduced delays in the operation of its electric trains (KRL) in Greater Jakarta area
lectric train operator PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ) claims it has substantially reduced delays in the operation of its electric trains (KRL) in Greater Jakarta area.
'The delays, which previously could amount to 30 minutes, are less than 10 minutes. The delays are usually caused by the fact the trains are forced to queue as both regular trains and electric trains share the same railway tracks,' PT KCJ president director Muhammad Fadhil said on Monday as quoted by kompas.com.
Fadhil said that the shorter delays were caused mainly by changes to and realignment of routes. 'I think the KRLs are more on time now,' he said.
As of July, the number of KRL passengers reached 850,000 per day on a total of 880 journeys per day, according to data from the KCJ. (hhr)(++++)
