Guess what?: No more urban legends, says Rizal

Kapanlagi.com

Movie buffs shouldn'€™t hold their breath for more urban legend horror films from Rizal Mantovani.

Tribunnews.com reported on Thursday the filmmaker had decided to go in another direction for his future productions. '€œI will no longer make urban legend [films]. After Wewe I couldn'€™t find any interesting folk stories. We have run out of urban legends [to adapt into film],'€ he said.

Released early this year, Wewe, which starred Nabilah Ratna Ayu Azalia of girlband JKT48, will be his last film of the subgenre.

Rizal has brought various popular urban legends to the big screen, including Jelangkung [The Uninvited], the trilogy of Kuntilanak (The Chanting) and Air Terjun Pengantin Phuket (Phuket'€™s Bride Fall).

'€œHorror genre filmmakers are encouraged to be creative and to find alternatives to entertain viewers,'€ said the father of one.
