fter receiving two state guests from China and the United Kingdom in Jakarta on Monday, President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo left for Singapore on Tuesday for a two-day state visit to boost the two countries' bilateral ties.
'I will focus on discussing the development of Batam, Bintan and Karimun with Singapore,' he said prior to boarding the presidential plane at the Halim Perdanakusumah Air Base on Tuesday.
Also attending the President's entourage were Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu, Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro, Trade Minister Rahmat Gobel, Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi, Coordinating Minister for Human and Culture development Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister for Economy Sofyan Djalil, Head of Investment Coordinating Board Franky Sibarani and Presidential Communications Team member Teten Masduki.
The President said that he would hold a meeting with Singaporean businesspeople and that he would invite them to invest in Indonesia, especially in the infrastructure development sector.
'We will no longer just sell the natural resources,' he said as quoted by Antara news agency.
In Jakarta, the President received on Monday China's Parliament speaker and British Prime Minister David Cameron, asking the two countries to diversify their investments in the country. (rms)
