strong earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale, shook Memberamo Raya regency in Papua at 4:41 a.m. West Indonesian Time on Tuesday, according to the Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
The tremor was recorded 75 kilometers southeast of Memberamo Raya. No fatalities or damage buildings have been reported.
Antara news agency reported on Tuesday that the earthquake was felt in Biak and most people went out of their houses. (rms)(++++)
