p to 1.2 million Jakarta residents have yet to be issued electronic identity cards (e-KTP), according to data from the city's Civil Registration Agency as reported by beritajakarta.com on Saturday.
The data reveals that there are 7.3 million residents in Jakarta that are required to have identity cards. Of that number, 6.1 million are e-KTP holders.
The e-KTP program was launched by the Home Ministry in 2012.
According to the agency's head, Edison Sianturi, e-KTP issuance has been disrupted as the agency is out of blank cards.
"We are still waiting for the blank cards from the Home Ministry to print the e-KTPs. Almost all regions are experiencing this problem," said Edison. (kes)(++++)
