AKARTA: The State Secretariat is set to hand over plots of land in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, in August to the city administration to develop an athlete's village for the 2018 Asian Games.
Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said that development of the athlete's village would begin soon after the city administration officially acquired the land. The athlete's village, he said, would be built by city-owned developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) and would accommodate all athletes participating in the Asian Games.
Ahok said the State Secretariat is set to also hand over a golf course and the Mitra Kemayoran hospital, both of which are managed by private companies.
'We have agreed to also take over the golf course and the hospital. We can change the hospital into a city-run general hospital,' Ahok told reporters at City Hall.
