The Jakarta City Council established on Tuesday three special committees to investigate a number of cases in the city administration.
City Council Speaker Prasetyo Edi Marsudi said that the three special committees were to look into the Supreme Audit Agency's (BPK) audit of the city's 2014 financial report, the city's assets and to determine whether or not Jakarta needs a bylaw to establish a zone for the city's north coast and islets.
Previously, the BPK's audit revealed that in 2014, at least Rp 7.9 trillion (US$570.3 million) worth of the city's assets in the form of land were currently disputed in court. The city officially received the report on July 6.
The city administration also plans to draft a new bylaw this year to establish a zone for the city's north coast and islets that will regulate the city's controversial plan to create 17 man-made islets off the north coast.
'We will investigate the issues objectively, because this is for the sake of the residents,' Prasetyo told reporters after a plenary session was held to establish the committees.
