State-run city bus company PPD has launched 78 new buses to connect Jakarta with Bekasi, Depok and Tangerang starting on Monday.
'We are plannig it for Monday,' PPD president director Pande Putu Yasa told kompas.com on Saturday.
The company said tickets would be worth Rp 9,000 (65 US cents) and payment would be made using a cashless system. Each bus will be equipped with an onboard e-ticketing machine.
Departing from the satellite cities, the buses will use regular roads. Once entering Jakarta, they will use the exclusive PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) bus lanes.
Pande said that Transjakarta passengers could board Transjabodetabek buses but would have to pay an extra Rp 9,000 once they passed outside of Jakarta.
The Transjabodetabek buses currently serve a route connecting Ciputat in South Tangerang with Blok M in South Jakarta and will add three more.
The second route will connect Depok in West Java to Grogol in West Jakarta, the third will connect Bekasi in West Java to Pasar Baru in Central Jakarta and the fourth will connect Poris Plawad in Tangerang, Banten, with Kemayoran in Central Jakarta.
