T

he official social media accounts ofPresident Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo posted updates on the development of borderroads in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Kalimantan and the Trans Papua road network.

'€œThe development of Kalimantan and NTT border roads and the Trans Papua are satisfying,'€ President Jokowi said through his Twitter account on Thursday.

The border road projects are designed to provide access to areas around the borders between Kalimantan and Malaysia, and between NTT and Timor Leste. The Trans Papua is aimed to create an extensive road network across Papua. People in the region are expected to enjoy cheaper logistic costs due to increased transport efficiency.

The NTT border road will be 171 kilometers long, and it is targeted to have finished 47 kilometers by the end of 2015. Next year'€™s target is to finish another 67 kilometers, and 56 kilometers more by 2017.

The trans Papua will be 4,325 kilometers, and they have finished paving 2,075 kilometers so far. The project is targeted to finish in 2019. (rad/bbn)
