Kuta Police chief Comr. Dedy Januarta has denied that he was involved in an alleged case of money being extorted from a group of Australian tourists, as was recently reported by Australian media.
'There was no extortion. I never did that. And I have reminded members of my team not to accept any money when handling a case,' Dedy told reporters on Monday.
Dedy, however, confirmed that a group of Kuta Police personnel had brought several Australian tourists from a restaurant in Seminyak to the Kuta Police station in February for holding a private striptease party.
He said the police had gone to the venue as there had been tension between the tourists and the restaurant manager, who felt offended by the party.
Your comments:
You only have to check the bank records of the four Australian guys; date, time and amounts withdrawn. Next, take the date and time of arrest and compare it all.
This should show who is trying to fool whom.

Typical Indonesian police, always denying or defending their wrong-doing and if an attempt is actually made to ensure disciplinary actions through the court, then they are protected by judges in pre-trial hearings and then they take revenge.
I'm sure there is truth behind this story and that the incident took place. The police always protect their own and are willing to take drastic, criminal actions to do so.
