After two years of being in the dark, the country'€™s national car project, Selo, may finally see the light of day now that Malaysia has taken over the project.

The project'€™s developer Ricky Elson has shared Malaysia'€™s offer on his Facebook account, which has gone viral.

As of Thursday afternoon, the post, titled "Don'€™t Say This Is Not Love", received 6,749 likes and 1,100 comments, most of which criticized his decision. The post has been shared 2,388 times.

In the posting, Ricky said that a Malaysian investor was interested in financing the car'€™s next prototype. The deal, he said, was a follow up from a meeting with the investor eight months before.

'€œIf there is better offer for us to create something, why not? There is an open opportunity there,'€ he said, as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday.

Ricky also clarified that his posting was not an expression of disappointment in the government.

'€œI am not disappointed, because from the start I knew about the development process in Indonesia ['€¦]. It is still far from what I expected,'€ he added.

Despite securing a financial deal with Malaysia, Ricky said that the production process would remain in Indonesia.

Selo is a car project developed by Ricky, who graduated from a Japanese university, and his colleague, Danet Suryatama.

Selo comes from the Tuxuci electricity car project, which was initiated by former state enterprises minister Dahlan Iskan. The Selo project, unfortunately, stalled as the government failed to provide legal guarantees. (ika)(++++)
