Greater Jakarta: Transjakarta Kopaja to kick off next month

ANS Kosasih - Antara

City-owned bus operator Transjakarta will next month launch the service of the Jakarta Transportation Cooperative (Kopaja), which is being integrated with Transjakarta, an official has confirmed.

'€œWe are set to launch the service on Oct. 28 '€” on Youth Pledge day,'€ Transjakarta president director ANS Kosasih said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.

The Transjakarta-integrated Kopaja will make its debut with 200 buses serving the route from Ragunan in South Jakarta to Senen in Central Jakarta, said Kosasih. The route, he added, intersected with Transjakarta Corridors 4, 5 and 6.

Kosasih furthermore explained that the Transjakarta-integrated Kopaja was different from the Kopaja S-66 plying Blok M to Manggarai, both in South Jakarta, despite a similar payment system in which passengers paid per kilometer.

'€œKopaja S-66 is a pilot project for integrated inter-city buses using the Transjakarta lanes,'€ he said.

Kopaja S-66 would no longer receive cash payments as of next month, he said. Instead, the Kopaja operator will be paid per kilometer by Transjakarta management. Its drivers will also receive a monthly salary.
