The South Korean Embassy and the Korean Tourism Office kicked off the Korea Festival 2015 in Jakarta on Thursday.

The festival runs from Oct. 1 to 4 at Lotte Shopping Avenue in South Jakarta, and offers three major programs: Korean food, Korean culture and Korea as a tourism destination.

There are several cultural performances on show at the festival, including performances from two members of Super Junior, Lee Teuk and Kang In, at the festival opening ceremony.

Apart from promoting the uniqueness of Korea, this festival is also introduces Korea'€™s creative industry and aims to bring the Indonesia-Korea relationship closer in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer relationships.

South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Cho Tai Young said that apart from having a partnership in tourism, Indonesia and South Korea also have close cooperations in military and defense fields.

Meanwhile, Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) CEO Song Sung Gak said that the two countries cooperate a lot in the creative industry, particularly in movies, animation and fashion.

'€œWe are not only taking our fashion industry to Indonesia but also bringing Indonesian fashion designers to fashion shows in South Korea,'€ Song said. (edn/bbn)
