The Pishgaman Giant Team from Iran dominated stage six of the Tour de Singkarak international cycling race in West Sumatra on Thursday.

Thursday'€™s race, which stretched 116 kilometers from Bukittinggi municipality to Istano Basa Pagaruyung palace in Tanah Datar regency, saw Pishgaman'€™s Arvin Moazemi Goudarzi taking the yellow jersey, or race leader, from team mate Amir Zargari with a time of 20 hours, 15 minutes and 38 seconds and winning polka dot jersey (top climber) with 77 points.

Goudarzi said that Zargari'€™s failure to defend his yellow jersey was a result of his being unwell. '€œIt is OK, though, because I could nail it.'€

Another Pishgaman team member Hosen Askari grabbed green jersey (top sprinter) by collecting 14 points as he won stage six in a time of 3:29:50. The second and third places went to Pishgaman'€™s Moazemi and Rahim Emami.

Indonesian Dadi Suryadi of Pegasus Continental Cycling Team snatched the orange (top Southeast Asian) and red-and-white (top Indonesian) jerseys with a time of 20:28:26.

Ninety three cyclists took part in stage six, the shortest stage of the 1,343.1 km race.

The nine-stage race has so far mainly been challenged by haze, which has resulted in '€œunhealthy'€ levels of air quality, forcing some of the participating cyclists to wear face masks while racing.
