he South Jakarta Education Agency has said that it will intensify its monitoring of students following a brawl in the area last week.
The agency's head, Ferry Safrudin, said that his side would monitor students before and after school hours.
'We will extend our monitoring beyond school hours and if we learn that a brawl is set to take place, we will call the police,' he said on Saturday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Ferry also said that his agency would impose strict sanctions on students involved in brawls. Students found carrying weapons to school would be expelled, he said.
'Bringing weapons to school is a criminal act,' he said, adding that students involved in brawls but not carrying weapons would be given a warning.
Dozens of students in Tebet, South Jakarta, were recently detained by the police for allegedly preparing to brawl.
