wo Indonesian haj pilgrims died within 48 hours on board two aircraft on their way home after completing one of the fundamental Muslim rituals.

The first victim, identified as Masduki from Sleman regency, Yogyakarta, died on Friday on a plane that took him from Banda Aceh, his transit point from Saudi Arabia, to Yogyakarta.

'€œThe deceased died because of heart disease. He was, however, in a fit condition when leaving Jeddah [for Indonesia],'€ the head of Religious Affairs Ministry'€™s Sleman office, Luthfi Hamid, was quoted as saying by Antara news agency on Saturday.

Meanwhile, another haj pilgrim from Padang, West Sumatra, died on a plane that brought him back to the city on Saturday evening due to sudden respiratory failure.
