T

he South Jakarta District Court adjourned on Monday the trial of the murder of 25-year-old sex worker Deudeuh '€œTata'€ Avisah Rini, as two police officers who were scheduled to testify failed to show up at the court.

Prosecutor Shandy Handika said the two policemen had been summoned by the judges, however they suddenly received assignments from their supervisors and could not meet the summons.

'€œThe two policemen will testify next Monday [Oct. 19],'€ Sandy said as quoted by kompas.com.

The two policemen were reportedly the officers who arrested M. Prio Santoso, who was named the sole defendant in the case.

On April 11, Tata was found dead in her rented room in Tebet, South Jakarta. She had been strangled with the electrical cable of a hair straightener and she was gagged with socks.

According to the police, Prio killed her after becoming upset that during intercourse, the victim told him that he smelled bad.
