The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continued on Wednesday the questioning of bribery suspects in a case involving the planned construction of a micro-hydropower plant in Deiyai regency, Papua.

Graft suspect Dewie Yasin Limpo, a House of Representatives member from the Hanura Party, arrived at the KPK headquarters at 11 a.m., without her lawyer, Samuel Hendrik.

The KPK questioned Dewie as a suspect in alleged bribery attempts in relation to the construction of the Papua micro-hydropower plant. The graft suspect, who is also a member of House Commission VII overseeing energy, has been detained at the KPK detention facility in Pondok Bambu, East Jakarta.

Also on Wednesday, Dewie'€™s private secretary, Rinelda Bandaso, arrived at the KPK headquarters at 2 p.m. for questioning as a suspect in the same case.

Speaking to journalists before questioning, Rinelda confirmed that Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said was not involved in the case.

KPK investigators reportedly caught Rinelda and four other people red-handed in a restaurant in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, where money reportedly exchanged hands on Oct. 20. They comprised two businessmen, Septiadi and Hari, a staff member of Septiadi'€™s named Depianto, and the Deiyai regency'€™s mining agency head, Iranius. KPK investigators later apprehended Dewie and one of her expert staff members, Bambang Wahyuhadi, at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on the same day. They confiscated S$177,700 (US$127,000) during the arrests. (ebf)
