Yogyakarta-based Gadjah Mada University (UGM) emerged the overall winner in the Students Pencak Silat Championship, which ended its four-day competition on Saturday in Semarang.

In the tournament featuring 365 athletes from 40 universities, Gadjah Mada collected five gold, three silver and seven bronze medals, followed by Udayana University of Denpasar (5-3-4) and Bandung Educational University (4-3-5).

UGM'€™s overall championship, which earned it the President'€™s Trophy, was decided by Solikha Putri Candra, who managed to overcome Novanditta Candra Dewi of Padjadjaran University in the women'€™s D class on Saturday.

Sugiharto of Semarang PGRI University was declared the tournament'€™s best men'€™s athlete, while the women'€™s honor went to double gold medalist Ni Luh of Udayana.

The next tournament will be hosted by PGRI University in Surabaya in 2017.
