he Jambi Corruption Court sentenced on Monday former director of Raden Mattaher General Hospital, Ali Imran, to one year in jail in a corruption case relating to the purchase of an electricity generator worth Rp 2.5 billion (US$178,571) three years ago.
The court also gave Ali a Rp 50 million fine or an additional two months in jail if he was unable to pay and urged him to return Rp 108 million of compensation money within a month after handing down the verdict.
'The defendant was proven to be guilty in the corruption case,' presiding judge Mansur said, adding that state losses had reached Rp 638 million.
Prosecutors earlier demanded the court sentence Ali to two years in prison.
After the trial, Ali said he sincerely accepted the verdict, but that he was letting his lawyers handle the case.
