he Jakarta administration signed on Wednesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with five institutions to establish a team that will function as a guide in budget planning and spending.
The five institutions are the Jakarta Police, the National Land Agency (BPN), the National Procurement Agency (LKPP), the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office and the Jakarta Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP). All the institutions will be part of the Jakarta administration's synergy team, established to optimize budget spending to speed up development.
Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said that the team would help civil servants in drafting various documents and serve as a consultant on various issues regarding spending.
Ahok said that the team, which consists of at least 10 officials from each institution, has started helping the city administration to plan the 2016 city budget.
Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Tito Karnavian said that 10 police officers, mostly from the special crimes unit, have joined the team. Similarly, the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office chief M. Adi Toegarisman said that 10 of his officials have also joined the team, mostly from the intelligence and civil administration unit.
