I hope the member countries can put their nationalistic feelings aside in favor of economic gain.
Past experience has shown that this is hard to do.

Regarding Indonesia's preparations for the AEC, in 2011 some big shot in the Finance Ministry announced the government would redenominate the rupiah and that it would take three to four years to complete the process.
But in 45 days 2016 will arrive, four years since the announcement.
Could someone from the ministry tell us whether the project has started or even been discussed.
That's the problem with us in Indonesia, people talk more than they work.

Easing financing might be helpful for small and middle medium enterprises, but every one of them will incur losses due to PLN's incompetence and lack of foresight to provide electricity.
The government has to get PLN to do its job professionally and then there might be some business successes.

Fragmented cabinet?
President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo has again asked his Cabinet members to avoid making contradictory public statements, which he says only encourages dispute. However, Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Rizal Ramli has rejected his instruction, saying that instigating conflict in the Cabinet is necessary to drive out 'rats' from their hiding places.
